CSC had the chance to experience these adrenaline-pumping activities firsthand — here’s what went down!

High-flying adventures at Adventure HQ

Adventure HQ was our first stop, and it’s impossible to miss. Located at the front of HomeTeamNS Khatib, this massive four-storey attraction is packed with towering rope courses, rock walls, fireman slides and an indoor glider — all sheltered from the elements, so the fun never stops.

Featuring 8 unique installations, Adventure HQ caters to all fitness levels, with high and low challenges to match every adventurer’s comfort zone. Among the must-try highlights is the 233-metre Indoor Roll Glider, Singapore’s first of its kind, offering an exhilarating aerial ride. If enclosed environments intrigue you, Fossil Labyrinth — modelled after real caves — offers a unique test of navigation skills in tight spaces.

Before jumping into the action, we met our enthusiastic Adventure Specialist at the first-floor locker and briefing room for a safety briefing. The facility is well-equipped with ample lockers to store belongings and a water cooler to keep hydrated — essential for a physically demanding session. Helmets and hairnets were provided for hygiene, followed by a short safety video and warm-up session.

Our first challenge? Sky Venture, a two-tiered indoor high rope course towering 15 metres above ground — the largest of its kind in Singapore. Boasting 16 different obstacles, Sky Venture pushes your agility and balance to the test.

After ascending to the top via the Cloud Climb, a towering 15-metre spiral staircase, we geared up under the guidance of our Adventure Specialist. Once harnessed in and safety-checked, it was go time! Being tethered to a safety rope provided reassurance, and though there were a few wobbly moments, Sky Venture proved to be an achievable feat for all fitness levels.

Want to take it up a notch? The average participant can complete the course at below 7 minutes but why not challenge your friends to a speed run or try to beat the current course record of 3 Minutes (held by one of Adventure HQ’s Specialist)!

After conquering the Sky Venture, we opted for the fastest route down — via the 14-metre fireman slide, Singapore’s longest indoor slide. The sheer rush of spiralling down took us back to our childhood days, and with three slides of varying lengths in Adventure HQ, we recommend trying them all!

Next up was Urban Climb, an indoor climbing zone featuring 24 different rock walls and vertical challenges designed for all ages and abilities. With auto-belay systems in place, climbers can safely scale the walls solo.

Our adventure started at the Sky Scrapers, a set of freestanding towers that wobble as you climb higher. Reaching the top required both balance and nerve, but with some encouragement from our Adventure Specialist, we pushed through and completed the climb!

Then came the Parabolic Slide, a true test of courage. Here, participants don a frictionless jumpsuit and hold onto a bar while being hoisted up to 8 metres high before letting go for a near-vertical drop. The longer you hold on, the steeper the fall! While it demands upper body strength, multiple attempts allow you to work your way up until you reach the top.

First timer? here’s what you need to know!

• Dress appropriately: Adventure HQ & TactSim requires fully covered shoes (sneakers or trainers only — no flip-flops or sandals). At TactSim, long sleeves and pants are mandatory, and a thicker hoodie is recommended for added protection.

• Tie up long hair: Hair must be secured with a rubber band—no hair clips allowed.

• Height and weight requirements: Adventure HQ participants must be at least 1.25m tall, with a maximum weight limit of 120kg.

• Group bookings: Adventure HQ offers bundle adventure passes for groups of 5. For TactSim PvP sessions, a minimum of 10 players is required. Groups of 13 or more will need a customized corporate booking.

• Best times to visit: Weekdays offer a less crowded experience, with higher chances of securing your preferred slot. Large groups should book in advance to avoid disappointment. Note that Adventure HQ & TactSim are closed on Mondays (except during school and public holidays).

Like a real-life Counter-Strike at TactSim

After working up a sweat at Adventure HQ, it was time for TactSim, Singapore’s first Airsoft facility designed for team-based shooting games.

Originating from Japan in the 1970s, Airsoft uses 6mm plastic pellets instead of real bullets, making it a safer alternative to live firearm training. TactSim features team skirmishes that focus on teamwork and strategy, making it a fantastic choice for group bonding. For those who prefer a more relaxed challenge, there’s also a target shooting range to sharpen your aim.

Before diving in, we were given a safety briefing by an instructor, who demonstrated proper handling techniques, including keeping the gun's safety mode activated when not in use. Unlike the lightweight Nerf guns we were used to, these Airsoft replicas are realistic in size and weight, with some models weighing up to 3kg — making them feel just like the real deal.

Once suited up in masks, goggles, and protective vests, we were ready for battle! While getting hit doesn’t leave bruises, the pellets can still sting — so wearing a thicker hoodie or long sleeves is recommended. Running, ducking, and reloading while under fire proved to be both exhilarating and exhausting, but the rush of successfully outmanoeuvring our opponents made it all worth it!

If fast-paced skirmishes aren’t your thing, TactSim’s target practice sessions offer a slower, more tactical approach to precision shooting.

As first-time visitors to Adventure HQ and TactSim, we had an absolute blast tackling obstacle courses and engaging in adrenaline-fueled battles.
