Integrating players into a cohesive whole is the key to winning, as shown by the teams that took home the gold in the Public Service Games in the second half of 2024.
Public Service Badminton Tournament (13 August to 12 September 2024)
69 teams from 22 government agencies battled for glory in the Public Service Badminton Tournament held at CSC @ Tessensohn. Mr Koh Chee Keat, CSC Executive Committee member, was the Guest-of-Honour at the finals of the tournament.

Shuttling to success once again, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) team defended its Overall Championship title. Champions in 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024, the MHA team takes each game one step at a time and avoids pressuring themselves to win, said team manager Mr Perry Poon. “We might try new things during our once-weekly training, but in crucial games we stick to our usual pairings.”

Public Service Futsal Tournament (10 November 2024)
It was an intense showdown as 60 teams from 22 government agencies competed at the Futsalarena @ Yishun. In the Division I category, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) team emerged victorious, clinching the top two spots. Their success was attributed to slick passing, sharp shooting and strategic defence, honed through rigorous practice sessions and friendly matches.
Team manager Mr Taiyo Koh highlighted the team’s formula for success: “We created a motivated and focused environment. We also built a cohesive team that performed beyond expectations, through teamwork and determination.”
Looking ahead, Mr Koh hopes for more opportunities to compete in international tournaments via CSC. “These experiences would help elevate the MHA team’s competition level and provide valuable learning opportunities,” he added.

In the Division II category, Ministry of Manpower (MOM) improved on their second-place finish from 2023. Team manager Mr Mohammad Faisal Bin Mohamed Ashim noted that the team’s strong camaraderie and determination to win enabled it to keep going despite losing several players early in the tournament due to work commitments: “We had a strong belief that we could achieve our mission to win – and we did. Rightfully, our players and organisation feel proud of the team’s achievement.”

In its second year, the women’s division brought fierce competition as eight teams from four organisations faced off. The MOE women’s team, defending its title, edged out MHA with a hard-fought 1-0 victory in the finals. MOE women’s team manager Mr Abdul Nasir Bin Abdul Razzak praised the competition's high level of sportsmanship. “We hope that more ministries will support the sport in future,” he added, calling for greater participation.
