When members of the Singtel Recreation Club stepped into CSC @ Tessensohn on Saturday 13 January 2024, they were greeted by a gigantic inflatable Singtel Sports Fiesta 2024 banner at the entrance. "The CSC @ Tessensohn team did an amazing job, creating an atmosphere that truly felt like Singtel's own space for the day," said Mr Danny Loh, Associate Director and Club Manager of Singtel Recreation Club, who was also a member of the Singtel Sports Fiesta 2024 organising committee. "The LED screens adorned with Singtel branding, alongside event-themed banners and playful wobblers, added a special touch to the venue."

A clubhouse tailored for corporate bonding

A total of 57 teams formed by 326 staff from Singtel and NCS Singapore participated in Singtel Sports Fiesta 2024. They took part in a diverse line-up of sports and activities, ranging from badminton, bowling and futsal to captain’s ball, e-gaming and a cooking contest.

Over the past years, CSC @ Tessensohn has been the preferred venue for Singtel Recreation Club’s annual sporting events, thanks to its diverse and flexible range of facilities, location and accessibility via public transport, and the option for exclusive use.

Explaining the advantage of exclusive use, Mr Loh said, "Unlike many venues where certain facilities have restricted usage — for example, limited lanes at a bowling alley — CSC @ Tessensohn makes almost all its facilities available exclusively to us." This arrangement not only enhanced attendees' experience but also fully immersed them in Singtel's culture and fostered team bonding.

A clubhouse that accommodates diverse needs with flexibility

The prize presentation ceremony took place at CSC @ Tessensohn’s spacious auditorium. It was also here that participants came together for a group photo set against a projected screen backdrop of a similar wefie taken in 2023 – providing a memorable comparison of 2024’s increased turnout with the year before.

The auditorium’s comfortable environment was a welcome respite for participants of the  futsal competition as well. And despite being oversubscribed — with 12 teams vying for 10 slots — the CSC team accommodated the organisers’ request to adjust the schedule so that everyone could take part in the tournament.

“We had planned to start the futsal activity at 9am and complete by noon, but to fit the extra teams and the additional matches, we needed to start earlier,” recounted Mr Loh. “The CSC team acceded to our request, allowing us to begin half an hour before the scheduled time.”

Another instance of CSC @ Tessensohn's adaptability was during the set-up for archery, which required ample open space. Utilising the tennis court, the CSC team prepared the area, ensuring a seamless experience for participants. “CSC was nimble in adapting the facility by doing the prep work and removing some of the installations such as the tennis nets,” said Mr Loh.

A clubhouse equipped for activities galore

For those less inclined towards traditional sports, e-gaming and cooking contests proved to be hits. Making its debut this year, the e-gaming competition, which featured 10 teams battling it out on Mobile Legends, resonated with younger participants.

At the same time, the MasterChef-style cooking contest appealed to attendees of all ages. At CSC @ Tessensohn’s well-equipped cooking studio, teams received their ingredients and briefings from the clubhouse chef. Singtel's senior management presided as judges, evaluating entries based on creativity, taste and presentation.

A Clubhouse that truly endears

Encouraged by the success of Singtel Sports Fiesta 2024, Mr Loh and the organising committee are gearing up for next year's edition, with CSC @ Tessensohn being considered, yet again, as the venue. “Working with the CSC @ Tessensohn team has been a good experience, and we found them to be very proactive in suggesting initiatives – such as the Singtel-themed decorations, which helped to enhance the overall event,” said Mr Loh. “We are very open to returning to CSC @ Tessensohn for the next Singtel Sports Fiesta.”

Mr Loh added that the organising committee is also evaluating locations like CSC @ Changi or CSC @ Bukit Batok for a different vibe, but with the same CSC hospitality.
